Charlie Moreland

A pleasant campground with a nice little (kid friendly) swimming hole.

The campsites are in open forest with good grass coverage, suitable for tents. Camper trailers and caravans would be OK too,

There is tank water (boil before drinking), fireplaces (bring your own firewood) and some great walking tracks.

There are some walking tracks too (copied from www.nprsr.qld.gov.au)

Fig Tree circuit—780 m return (allow 45 mins) Class 2

This short circuit walk leads through magnificent rainforest. Watch out for large stinging tree leaves—look but don’t touch! The circuit is suitable for wheelchair access.

Little Yabba circuit—1.5 km return (allow 45 mins) Class 3

Crossing Little Yabba creek, this walk traverses hoop pine plantation and regenerating rainforest. This is a good birdwatching area.

Piccabeen circuit—3.5 km return (allow 2 hrs) Class 3

An extension of the Little Yabba circuit, this walk explores plantations, rainforest and a piccabeen palm grove.

Charlie Moreland to Mount Allan—8.8 km return (allow 4 hrs) Class 4

From Charlie Moreland, follow steep state forest tracks through pine plantation to the top of Mount Allan—watch out for management vehicles. Climb the stairs of the 9.6 metre fire tower for splendid 360° views of the surrounding ranges.
